Inline Equipment

Hockey Services isn’t just about ice hockey. We also provide inline equipment for all of your roller hockey needs. While the sticks, gloves, elbow pads, helmets, and shin pads are the same whether you’re playing ice hockey or roller hockey, there are several pieces of inline equipment that are specifically designed for roller hockey, including:
  • Skates
  • Wheels & bearings
  • Pants
  • Pucks

Ice Hockey vs. Roller Hockey Equipment

There are several differences between ice hockey and inline equipment. First and foremost, the skates are quite different, of course. Pants are also quite different. Inline pants, also known as “girdles,” are form-fitting rather than loose, include air pockets for greater airflow and better cooling, and finally, men’s inline pants come with a cup. Inline pucks are also different–they are often lighter than ice hockey pucks, so players switching from one to the other will need to adjust their stick handling appropriately.

Wheels & Bearings

Wheels and bearings are important pieces of inline equipment that ice hockey players don’t have to worry about. High quality wheels & bearings, however, can boost speed for inline players. Wheels also come in different levels of hardness (called “durometer”), and which durometer level is right for each player is different according to weight and playing surface. Softer wheels are often considered more “sticky” or “grippy,” and are better for smoother surfaces, like indoor sport courts. Players may also own several sets of wheels at once for different types of playing surfaces. If you’ve got questions or concerns about which wheels are right for you, we’ll be more than happy to assist you in your selection of inline equipment.
